Nigeria’s Super Eagles were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by Zimbabwe’s Warriors this evening at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, putting their 2026 World Cup qualification hopes at risk.

Victor Osimhen put Nigeria ahead in the 74th minute, heading in a cross from Ola Aina at the far post. However, Zimbabwe’s Chirewa equalised in the 90th minute, ensuring the match ended in a draw.
The result leaves Nigeria in fourth place in Group C with 7 points from 6 matches.
In other group matches, South Africa defeated Benin Republic 2-0 to stay top of the table with 13 points, while Rwanda and Lesotho played out a 1-1 draw.
The Super Eagles will return to action in September, when they host Rwanda in Uyo and travel to South Africa for their next World Cup qualifying fixtures.
