Senator Oluremi Tinubu Named Grand Patron of the 2025 African Women’s Volleyball Championship


In a ceremony held at the Presidential Villa, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was officially honored as the Grand Patron of the 2025 African Women’s Volleyball Championship. The event was graced by prominent dignitaries, including the Director General of the Nigeria Sports Commission, Honourable Bukola Olopade, and the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, who jointly carried out the decoration.

This recognition celebrates Senator Tinubu’s steadfast commitment to the advancement of women’s sports, as well as her broader efforts in promoting key social and developmental causes across Nigeria and Africa.

In her acceptance speech, the First Lady reaffirmed her belief in the limitless potential of women, emphasizing that they have every right to excel in all spheres of life. She stressed that with hard work and dedication, female athletes can continue to break barriers and achieve remarkable success.

She also acknowledged Nigeria’s strong reputation in global sports, attributing this achievement to the resilience and dedication of the nation’s female athletes.

The 2025 African Women’s Volleyball Championship is set to take place in Abuja from April 1st to April 14th, bringing together top teams from across the continent for an exciting display of talent and competition.
