NiDCOM Applauds Launch of Nigerian Immigrants Welcome Centre in Canada

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has commended the Nigerian community leaders in Ontario, Canada, for their initiative in establishing the Nigerian Immigrants Welcome Centre, set to be launched on April 12, 2025.

Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of NiDCOM, lauded the move, describing it as a groundbreaking effort to support both new and existing Nigerian migrants in Canada. She emphasized the importance of such structures in helping Nigerians integrate into their new environment successfully.

Dabiri-Erewa also urged other Nigerian communities worldwide to adopt similar initiatives, reaffirming NiDCOM’s commitment to collaborating with organizations that prioritize the welfare of Nigerians abroad.

According to Mr. Uche Okugo, President of the Network of Nigerians in Canada (NNC), the centre will offer tailored services, including career mentoring, settlement support, job placement, language coaching, empowerment programs, and food bank assistance.

With growing migration trends, the success of this initiative could set a precedent for diaspora communities globally. But will similar centers emerge in other countries to support Nigerians seeking new opportunities abroad?
