After nearly two decades of evading capture, Ogbonnaya Kelvin Jeff, a notorious drug kingpin, has finally been arrested in Lagos by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The agency confirmed that Jeff, who has been a high-profile fugitive for 17 years, is not only wanted in Nigeria but has also been on the radar of South Korean authorities for multiple drug trafficking offenses.
International Drug Network Busted
Jeff’s arrest followed an extensive intelligence-led operation by NDLEA officers, culminating in his capture. Described as a key figure in the global drug trade, he had previously served a one-year prison sentence in South Korea for drug-related crimes. However, authorities say his time behind bars did little to deter him, as he resumed trafficking upon release, strengthening his grip on the illegal drug trade.
NDLEA Commends Operation, Vows More Crackdowns
Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (Retd.), NDLEA Chairman and CEO, hailed the operation as a significant victory in the war against drug trafficking. He emphasized that Jeff’s capture underscores the agency’s unwavering commitment to dismantling major drug syndicates operating within and beyond Nigeria’s borders.
Facing Justice: What Comes Next?
Jeff is set to be charged under Nigerian drug laws, while extradition requests from South Korea are expected to follow. Meanwhile, NDLEA officials have confirmed that investigations will deepen into his criminal network, as authorities work to track down his associates and disrupt the supply chain.
His arrest marks another milestone in Nigeria’s intensified crackdown on international drug cartels, proving that no matter how long criminals run, the law will always catch up with them.
