Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has called on the South East Development Commission (SEDC) to focus on transforming the region into a unified economic hub through infrastructure and investment-driven initiatives. He made this appeal during a courtesy visit by the SEDC Board and Management at the Government House in Enugu.
Highlighting the importance of regional collaboration, Governor Mbah emphasized that infrastructural development and economic integration are crucial for attracting investors and fostering sustainable growth. He expressed his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for finally establishing the SEDC after years of stalled efforts, commending him for appointing competent individuals to lead the Commission’s agenda.
Governor Mbah assured the Commission of his full cooperation, noting that its objectives align with Enugu State’s ongoing development projects. He stressed the need for synergy between the Commission and the South East states to maximize the region’s potential.
In response, the Chairman of SEDC, Chief Chukwuemeka Wogu, and Managing Director, Mr. Mark Okoye—represented by Executive Director of Projects, Hon. Toby Okechukwu—commended Governor Mbah for his rapid and strategic infrastructure developments in Enugu. They outlined several key initiatives of the Commission, including:
