In a political shake-up that has set tongues wagging, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has officially parted ways with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The 2023 Lagos governorship candidate announced his resignation on Monday during a media briefing at his Ikeja office.
Jandor remained tight-lipped about his next political steps or his reasons for quitting the PDP. However, speculation is already swirling that he may be heading back to the All Progressives Congress (APC)—the party he once called home.
Before his foray into PDP politics, Jandor was a key figure in the APC, leading the Lagos4Lagos Movement, which pushed for internal democracy within the ruling party. His defection to the PDP in January 2022 was seen as a strategic move to secure the party’s gubernatorial ticket—a bid that ultimately saw him place third in the election, behind Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu (APC) and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (Labour Party).
With his departure from the PDP, all eyes are on Jandor to see whether he reunites with the APC or charts an entirely new political path. Whatever his next move, one thing is clear—Lagos politics just got a lot more interesting.
